About me ...
Having worked all my life, I have always been drawn to and inspired by working women from around the world. my background is primarily in the creative fields of fashion, design, and art so I have naturally always been attracted to rich color and textures.
That love has guided me towards creating ethnically inspired art of great diversity, but with a common thread of many cultures' traditions, including costumes, pottery, body painting, weaving and especially the women of these different cultures who create beauty and art through the so-called everyday mundane tasks of cooking, chores, and child rearing.
The Working Women Series evolved on it's own; it was never my plan to create a series of working women; it just came together from my joy of painting women at work.
In 2008 I returned to my pottery studio and spent most of the year experimenting with new shapes and low fire glazes.
2009 was my first year working in clay developing sculpture skills. I plan to further expand in this medium plus continue to paint more working women.
Also in 2008 and 2009, I was asked to complete several portraits and I think I will expand too in this area.
I am constantly exploring and discovering new inspirations for the next chapter in my creative adventure.
